Is the paint visible during the day?

If painted on a white or light colored ceiling, the special phosphorescent paint is virtually invisible during the day! We custom mix our paints depending on what type of ceiling or surface you have. Colored paint chips can be used for testing ahead of time so that you can preview the effect the mural will have on your existing paint. We can also place a test star so you can see how the paint will look on your surface. Results will depend on color of the wood, texture, and finish. However, we do our best to make sure that it is virtually invisible during the day as not to affect your decor.

How does old wall paint effect the application of a mural?

If you have painted your ceiling within the last two years you will get the best results. We suggest that if you plan on painting your ceiling any time soon to do this before we paint your mural. White and off white paint as well as pastel colors are perfect for our murals. Also if you smoke in the house we suggest painting your ceiling before we paint your mural as well. Make sure to put a good coat of sealer before your coat of paint to hide any stains from the nicotine.

How long does it take to paint a mural?

Please keep in mind that your are commissioning an original piece of art and while we are creating your original Shooting Star Mural we will be working in the dark… on a ladder… bending over backwards… holding paint in one hand and brushes in the other.

Our Sky Light murals take about an hour. Larger more basic rooms (12x12) can take anywhere from 2 to 4 hours or longer depending on the detail. Whatever the time we guarantee you will love your mural or we will paint your ceiling back to it's original state.

How long should I expect my mural to last?

For many decades to come!! Our high quality paint will not chip, flake or fade. However if it's going to be in an area where little fingers are touching we suggest putting a protective coating over it. Our murals are fully guaranteed for the life of your ceiling under normal conditions. The only exceptions are smoke and fire damage, flooding, natural disasters, and the like.

Can you paint over popcorn ceilings?

Yes, but only stars and the Milky Way can be applied over popcorn. Room themes requiring stencils will not work on popcorn or highly textured ceilings and walls, and because this type of application requires more time, a small additional fee may apply. We recommend that if you plan on removing your popcorn ceiling anytime soon you do this before we paint your mural. The results will be much better.

Is this glow-in-the-dark phosphorescent paint available for purchase at stores?

No, this is a unique formula specially mixed for the purpose of Shooting Star Murals as each ceiling is unique as well.

How long will my Shooting Star Mural glow?

The duration of the glow is entirely dependent on your environment and your ability to control it. The darker the room, the longer (and more detailed) you will see the design. Under normal conditions the glow lasts for several hours after the lights go out - I have even seen it glowing when I wake up in the morning… and chances are, you will fade long before the stars do.

Is it environmentally safe and safe for my children?

Yes. It is odorless and nontoxic. So it’s safe for anyone including those with respiratory problems such as asthma.

Can you truly recreate the night sky as it appeared on the exact night of a special occasion?

How do I get rid of my Shooting Star Mural if I don't want it anymore?

Applying wallpaper or a coat of sealer and a couple coats of paint will completely cover the treatment. With it being so easy to cover up our Murals are great for rental homes.
